The Park

For writing, the last few weeks we have been writing we had been given a few different pictures to choose from. We could decide what ever we wanted to happen in the story as long as it was from the picture. We had to highlight what language features from out criteria we had used in our writing. Our criteria included:

  1. Use a very short sentence.
  2. Start your sentence with an AAWWUBBIS (Opener sentence)
  3. Ly start – Start a sentence with a ly adverb.
  4. Em – dash. A dash is used to set off information in a sentence with dramatic flair.
  5. Use speech punctuation
The Park
art7.PNGI arrive at the park with my dog Daisy. This is our special place that me and Daisy love to go to together.

I pick up a stick from off  the ground and throw it over to a big gum tree. She rushes over to the tree and brings it straight back, dropping it at my feet. “Good girl Daisy,” I say as she jumps up licking me. Daisy loves fetch.

I throw it another time, she goes chasing after it and runs straight past it. I yell,“Daisy come back!”
I run into the woods yelling, “Daisy Daisy!” But still no sign of her. I remember our secret hut that we made. She’ll be in there! I rush over to our hut, still no sign of Daisy. My face fell.

By the time I had done all of this running around, it had started to get dark. I had to get home, mum would be worried. I walk through the forest, tears in my eyes, head hung low. I arrive back at the park, still no Daisy. I walk back down the path. Crying. Hoping she would come back.

Suddenly out of the bushes comes a rustling sound. Out from the bushes comes Daisy! She rushes up to me giving me big slobbery kisses.

We walk back in the front door and there was Mum who had dinner ready for both of us. Me and Mum sit at the table and Daisy sits down by my feet. I smile at her and she rubs her head against my legs.

Salt Dough Pendant

Salt Dough Pendant

In class Today, we created salt dough pendants. Before we created our pendants, we had to design one on a piece of paper. Our designs had to communicate something and mean something to us. I chose to create a heart with an animal paw print in the centre. My pendant communicates my love for animals. Here is a photo of my pendant.

Powerless

Powerless
In writing we got shown a short animation clip, ''Powerless'' (link below) we could retell the story or tell it from one of the characters perspective. I chose to be the inventor of a robot. Our criteria was to:
  1. Use a very short sentence.
  2. Start your sentence with an AAAWWUBBIS (Opener sentence)
  3. Ly start – Start a sentence with a ly adverb.
  4. Em – dash. A dash is used to set off information in a sentence with dramatic flair.
  5. The subject sentence. Start your sentence with the subject. (Interrupter)

Powerless
Here I lie, asleep in my small, rustic cottage in the middle of an abandoned, dry forest with my robotic friend listening to the chirping crickets and the creaking cottage  -  no power. No food.

I awake to see him gone. I rush outside with my woollen coat and glowing lantern. Following the noises until reaching a river, I see he is struggling to lift a log off one of the many small dainty fairies that brings him to life.

Quickly, I rush over to help. We pull and pull. The fairy fluttering above me, the robot falling to the ground. Out of the robot shoots out a golden fairy. If only there was a way my robotic friend could come to life without magic. I give up.

Suddenly, as I was making my back to my cabin, I hear the noises of footsteps getting closer and closer. The robots dappled lights shines through the spindly tree branches.

In through the rustic cottage door comes the robot. Maybe after all my robotic friend doesn’t need magic to come to life.

Market Day

JPEG ImageMarket Day

Today was the senior team market day to sell our products that we created. We each had our own decorated stalls to sell our products. We had our buddy class and a parents come along too. We got to choose if we were a profit or non profit  company. I chose to be non profit, all of my funds go to Ronald McDonald House.

For our designed to sell inquiry, for the product that we designed we had to create an advertisement advertising our product. We had to include pictures of our product, our logo and company name, the cost and where we could buy the product from. Here is my advertisement.

My Product

As part of the senior school's new inquiry, designed to sell, we had to design/make a product. I chose to do chocolate. I have three different flavours, M&M, jelly bean and marshmallow. We had to create a company name, a logo and packaging for our product. My company name is ''Milblock''. I packaged my chocolate by wrapping the chocolate up in coloured foil, I then wrapped my logo and company name over top. On the packaging we had to make sure that we included every ingredient that was in our product and allergy information. We had to bring in a few of our products for the class to try and give feedback about our product. Here is a mock up of one of my flavours of chocolate.

My Pizza Ad

My Pizza Ad

Our new inquiry is designed to sell. For Homework our task was to create our own pizza with our own toppings. Once we had decided what toppings we wanted, we had to come up with a name for our pizza. My toppings were spaghetti for the base, grated cheese and ham and it the Spaghetti Supreme. When we had done this, we then had to create an ad for our pizza on voki. Here is mine.
